Good Road Safety Practices Saved Their Lives

According to Chief of Staff Stuart Leslie, Edwin Hill has been driving the party leader for eleven years. He is an experienced, defensive driver and was trained by the Special Branch Unit of the Police Department in driving the party leader. Leslie says that the family and the party are confident that Hill would have taken every precaution in trying to avoid the death of anyone, including Party Leader John Briceño. His skilful driving, as well as the proper use of seatbelts by both Hill and Briceño, has them alive today.

“We were very concerned because the vehicle flipped several times because of the loose gravel on the side of the road and he had to accelerate to get out of the way of an oncoming vehicle. Doctor Tulio Mendez said to me that John Briceño is a lucky man, they are both lucky people, because of the number of times that the vehicle flipped.”

“Now sir, were they wearing their seatbelts?”

Stuart Leslie

“Yes the party leader was not only wearing his seatbelt, but he also wears a neck guard because he suffers from a little bit of a neck injury. So he was wearing his seatbelt, he was wearing his neck guard and as far as we are able to understand, their airbags did deploy.”
