Minor charged for murder and robbery

A sixteen year old boy, one of two persons who police suspect was involved in a murder and robbery, was charged in the Family Court today. The minor was charged with Murder, Robbery and Aggravated Burglary and was remanded in custody at Boot Camp until May twentieth. The charges stem from the murder of thirty-four year old Shawn Thompson, who was stabbed in the left side of the neck around six last Thursday evening. Thompson and his brother, forty-six year old Derrick Mahler, were in front of Mahler’s house on Far West Street when two persons rode up on bicycles, one of them took out a pistol and ordered the brothers into the house. The two persons robbed Mahler of a white diamond wedding ring, a gold ring and two cell phones. A struggle began between Mahler and the gunman and Mahler managed to grab the gun, but the gunman retrieved it and ran with Mahler pursuing him. The gunman’s partner in crime stabbed Thompson, who managed to run outside and collapsed. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the K.H.M.H. Police are still searching for a second person to charge in connection with the incident. The same minor was charged with Attempted Murder for a shooting incident that occurred in August last year. But earlier this month the charge was withdrawn because the complainant, Adolph Gomez, appeared in court and said he did not want any further court action.
