Second suspect arraigned for the murder of Oscar Rosado Sr.
A second suspect has been nabbed for the murder of seventy-year-old businessman Oscar Rosado Senior. Today, twenty-year-old Jose Gomez was formally charged and arraigned for the murder. Rosado was gunned down inside his store when three men entered Rosado’s Construction Supply on Cemetery Road in Belize City on April twenty-third of last year. Gomez, a resident of San Antonio Village in Cayo, was picked up by police during a stop and search in the city. He gave police a wrong name and was detained for that mischievous act. He was hauled before the court on Monday where he pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor offense and was slapped with a fine of fifty dollars, plus five dollars cost of court due by end of September. But immediately after he was arraigned for that charge, Gomez was taken into custody again and charged with Rosado Senior’s murder. Today, he appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court; no plea was taken due to the nature of the offense. He was denied bail and remanded into custody. In May of this year, eighteen-year-old Brandon Hughes of Belize City was the first to be picked up and arraigned for Rosado’s murder. Gomez and Brandon will reappear in court in October of this year.
