A New Collective Bargaining Agreement for BWSWU
A collective bargaining agreement has been signed between the Belize Water Services Limited and the Belize Water Services Workers Union for two hundred and ninety-five permanent employees of the utility company. The CBA was signed on Monday by Chief Executive Officer Alvan Haynes, BWSL Chairman Alberto August and Union President Lorelei Westby. They highlighted the importance of a tripartite relationship between workers, management, and government, to ensure that each stakeholder takes on a critical role in the negotiation process. The agreement is for a term of three years with effect as of November first, 2018. It seeks to promote efficient, safe and effective working practices between the company and the union. Labor Commissioner Anne Marie Thompson was present as witness.
