Patrick Garbutt is Charged for Wounding an Officer of the Belize Port Authority

Patrick Garbutt

A retreat outing for an officer almost ended fatally when he was attacked and stabbed in the face and injured on the hand by another co-worker.  There is no motive known for the latest attack for which a local boat captain is charged with wounding a law enforcement officer of the Belize Port Authority.  As a result of the attack which occurred on August seventeenth, 2019 at the exit of Old Belize, police have levied charges against the alleged attacker identified as Patrick Garbutt, a resident of mile seventeen on the George Price Highway.  Garbutt appeared before Magistrate Emmerson Banner and was arraigned for wounding upon Enrique Depaz.  He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was offered bail in the sum of five hundred dollars plus one surety and is due back in court on October first, 2019.  Depaz was returning from a retreat in Caye Caulker and was walking towards the exit of Old Belize to catch a bus when he came under attack. He alleges it was Garbutt who stabbed him with a blade knife.
