Oliver Peters Viciously Stabbed During Family Dispute

Oliver Peters

Oliver Peters was acquitted of the murder of his uncle on June eleventh, after spending almost five and a half years on remand at the Belize Central Prison.  Tonight, he is listed in critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital following a stabbing incident on Saturday night.  It is not clear what precipitated the attack, but it is known that Peters has had a history of enmity with his relatives.  In December 2013, Peters stabbed forty-seven-year-old Thomas Ferguson Senior once to the chest during a land dispute.  Ferguson succumbed to the injury two months later.  The latest incident involving the Arlington Drive resident took place sometime after eight o’clock on Saturday night.  Superintendent Alejandro Cowo provided limited information on the vicious attack.

“Saturday night, just about minutes to nine, Mr. Oliver Peters, forty-two-years, was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital with stab wounds to the body.  What police understand is that Mr. Peters was at Boots Crescent along with family members when an argument ensued between family members and as a result he sustained stab wounds to his body.  He, likewise, is presently admitted in a critical condition at this moment.  Police have interviewed family members and we believe that we are going in the right direction and probably we are going to have an arrest sometime this week.”

On June eleventh, Peters was set free when Justice Colin Williams ruled that he did not use excessive force when he inflicted the injury to Thomas Ferguson.  Ferguson was mortally wounded when reportedly confronted his nephew with a machete.  During the incident he was stabbed.
