Salvation Army School Students Get Much Needed Financial Assistance
Children First and Last Belize, C-FAL, today awarded nine scholarship grants to students of Salvation Army Primary School in Belize City. The organization’s mission is to help children to realize their educational and health goals. Students from infant two through to standard five received one thousand dollars each plus school bags with school materials. Principal Evadney Glenn says the recipients were chosen based on need. C-FAL President Paul Lecky says the goal is to allow the children to grow in a positive light.

“What we did really is provide scholarships to deserving children and we also provide school bags with school supplies. The whole idea is to help children who are in need so they can do well in school. If we can empower our children and get them educated then the intention is to empower the nation.”
Evadney Glenn, Principal, Salvation Army Primary School
“We had a list of about twenty students who hadn’t been paying any fees for while because there are several children here who can’t afford to pay the fees. They have to pay for everything else. So what we did is that we got together as a staff and we decided who was most needy and in some case two from a family were chosen because they needed it most.”
