Is It the Right Time to Close Down Regent Street?

Tamara Minto

With the historic Swing Bridge under repair and Regent Street soon to be resurfaced, is it the opportune time for these works to be carried out, and is the schedule based on the least amount of time necessary for the works to be completed?  CitCo says it’s trying its best to expedite the project in order for traffic in the downtown area to resume normalcy.

Tamara Minto, Communications Manager, Belize City Council

“With any inconvenience, with any road repairs, any upgrades or infrastructure there will be some inconvenience and we do apologize that we have to inconvenience our residents but it’s the only stretch on Regent Street at this current time that needs the repair that it does.”

“In coming up with this particular schedule for repairs, was this the shortest possible time that could have been penciled in, so to speak?”

Tamara Minto

“Definitely.  We are trying our best; we don’t anticipate that it will take that long where we do have to give ourselves that amount of time.  We will do and we will try to make it as quickly as possible so that we can, the less we can inconvenience our residents the better.”
