Women are suspects in two armed robberies
A pair of incidents do not necessarily indicate a trend, but twice over the weekend gun toting women have been identified as the perpetrators of attempted robberies in Belize City. On Saturday morning around eleven, a female armed with a handgun and accompanied by a male accomplice, held up the office of Femagra Industries on Eve Street. The office secretary was forced to hand over one hundred and eighty-two dollars in cash and the duo escaped. The woman is described in police reports as fair skinned.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, a member of the fairer sex was at it again– but without much success. Shortly before midnight, a young lady walked into Excellent Diner on Orange Street, pulled a pistol and demanded money from proprietor Andy Quan. Quan and his two cousins were apparently not in a generous mood and instead of complying with the request they instead grabbed the gunslinger and disarmed her. The pistol turned out to be a toy and the suspect, twenty-four year old Joeth Pratt, was turned over to police. She has been detained pending charges. Police do not believe that the two incidents involve the same woman.
