Two men arrested for Dangriga robbery

Two men accused of a robbery in Dangriga made a poor choice of getaway vehicle
and have been arrested in Belize City. Twenty-one year old Jason Kuylen,
a resident of Sabal Street, and nineteen year old Ryan Valero of the Stann
Creek Valley, are believed to be involved in the jacking of twenty-thousand
dollars in cash, three thousand in cheques and five hundred B.T.L. phone
cards from Salvadoran businesswoman Blanca Sabala. According to Sabala,
on Tuesday morning around 11:30 the muggers grabbed her bag as she walked
along Havana Street and then escaped on foot and jumped a fence. A tip
to Dangriga police said that the robber and an accomplice had boarded
the 5:00 flight to Belize City, and police in the old capital were put
on alert. As the plane landed at Belize Municipal, the pair were picked
up. To make matters worse, in addition to an undisclosed amount of cash,
the men also carried a knapsack containing five ounces of marijuana. They
were charged with drug trafficking in Belize City Magistrate’s Court and
will be returned aboard a return flight to Dangriga to face charges for
robbery.
