An armed man holds up four patrons in a St Mathews bar

Following our report of an armed robbery in Cotton Tree earlier this week, a video was provided to our newsroom of another robbery in the west. It occurred on August fifteenth in the village of Saint Mathews, Cayo. Four persons were inside the Gentleman Bar, owned by a Chinese businessperson, who wished not to comment in fear of reprisals. The video shows one armed and masked individual bursting into the bar just before the stroke of midnight. Four persons were inside, including two women, one of the female flees immediately. The armed individual points his gun at the group as music blares in the background.  He hits one of the male patrons and orders the others to go on the ground where he continued to hit one of them. He briefly steps outside and when he returns he is followed by an unarmed man who enters and exits the bar within seconds. But the armed man fires a single warning shot and commandeers one of the women to go with him elsewhere in the bar. He then quickly flees the establishment. The incident was caught on surveillance camera and police have made one arrest. But it is not clear if the bar was robbed.
