NCFC appeals for the protection of children during the celebrations
There was an incident during last Friday’s carnival motorcade in which a young child and others were injured. The National Committee for Families and Children says it is appalled at the incident mindful that September is the month when children look forward to a wide array of national events that teach them about their heritage; instil love of country and the sense of duty to contribute to development. The NCFC points to the Children’s Agenda and the Convention on the Rights of the Child which under Article nineteen states “that every child has the right to be protected from being hurt and mistreated in body or mind.” The committee also appeals to the public, the importance of keeping a watchful eye on children during the September activities.
