Bartolo Shish and the Case of the Alleged Abduction

While Orellano is cooling his heels on pre-trial detention, another man has been arrested and charged for an incident involving a minor. Bartolo Shish, a resident of San Antonio, Cayo District is facing three counts for forcible abduction and sexual assault following a report that he took a fifteen-year-old girl against her will from the Cayo Welcome Center on August twenty-third. He allegedly drove the teenager to Belize City and she was only able to escape from the vehicle when they were stuck in downtown traffic on Regent Street. Today, police provided additional information on Shish’s arrest.

“In reference to a matter I had also reported on where a fifteen-year-old female minor was abducted from the area of the Cayo Welcome Center in San Ignacio, police have since this week arrested and charged Bartolo Shish, forty-five-years-old of a San Antonio Village address in the Cayo District for one count of forcible abduction and two counts of sexual assault.”

“Sir, is there any history here of this man probably harassing this young lady?”

“Not that we know of and no report was received by the police as far as we know prior to this incident.”

“And in this case, is it the first time that such an allegation is being made against this man?”

“As far as we know, yes.”
