Armed Thieves Target Store in Vista Del Mar

Mike’s Store in Vista Del Mar, Belize District, was hit by robbers on Wednesday night. Sometime after seven p.m., Ladyville police were called out to Manta Ray Boulevard where area residents had gathered seconds after the store was robbed. Reports from the area are that the residents helped in capturing one of three thieves who barged into the store, wielding knives and demanding money. The trio fled with the cash but police was able to recover some. According to A.C.P. Joseph Myvett, two persons have been detained while officers are on the hunt for the third suspect.

“Three male persons of dark complexion entered the establishment, armed with knives and demanded monies. As a result of them went behind the counter where he took out an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register before making good their escape. Police investigations have so far led to the detention of two persons and the recovery of some monies along with a knapsack which was stolen from the establishment. One of those persons is a sixteen old minor of an Antelope Street address in Belize City.”
