Carnival Day was Incident Free Say Police

This year’s Carnival Road March came and went without major incidents. That’s because the Belize Police Department went into overdrive on Friday night to ensure that the celebration weekend was a safe one in Belize City. In the predawn hours of Saturday morning, hundreds of revelers took to the streets for the Carnival J’ouvert escorted by the men and women of law enforcement. Their presence was felt throughout the day along the parade route. This afternoon, Commander of Operations, Deputy Commissioner of Police Edward Broaster told the media that all weekend activities went off without a hitch.

“The Belize Police Department would like to commend and thank the public for their cooperation over the weekend, especially on Saturday with respect to the J’ouvert and the carnival and we would like to express our sincere gratitude to our police officers who work tirelessly for those periods and made the citizenry safe.  The J’ouvert and carnival went smoothly without any major incident and the Belizean populace, as well as the department has to be thanked for that.  There were no major incidents.  We had some minor fights and things like that that the police dealt with, but fair enough the Belizean people really listened and heeded our advice in the week leading up to the carnival and everybody enjoyed themselves and had a wonderful time.”
