Police believe they have detained suspects in armed robbery in Corozal
Police believe they have detained the suspects who were part of a heist in Corozal Town last Friday. Today, Head of the National Crimes Investigation Branch A.C.P. Joseph Myvett told the media that the Corozal Police were alerted of the armed robbery at Frys Store located on Santa Rita Road in Corozal Town around five- thirty in the evening. A.C.P. Myvett says that it wasn’t long after when officers intercepted a vehicle and following a search, the men were arrested for firearm charges. But police also found what they believe were items taken from the store and suspect the robbers were among those travelling in the vehicle.

“A dark complexion male entered the store shortly after five PM and was later joined by a Hispanic male, who upon entering the store pulled a handgun and demanded money and the cash register was emptied by those two individuals before walking away and making good their escape. Later on sometime around nine forty pm police officers on checkpoint in Sandhill Village intercepted a green Toyota Corolla taxi which at the time was being driven by one Darren Carias of a Corozal Town address. And with him were Juan Chaneck, Julian Dire, Moses Moore, Pearl Locke and Kenisha Hall. A search was conducted on that vehicle which resulted in the discovery of a nine millimetre pistol and a 38 revolver loaded with six rounds of ammunition. Also found were some items believed to have been from the robbery that was committed earlier. These persons have so far been arrested and charged for possession of unlicensed firearm and unlicensed ammunition in relation to the weapons discovered.”
