Commissioner of Police listens to residents in Corozal Town
The Commissioner of Police Chester Williams addressed a number of issues today; he was in Corozal Town as he makes his rounds joining officers in different municipalities in their weekly meet and greet sessions. The top cop and the regional commander visited residents in the Chula Vista area in that municipality to hear the concerns they have with the department and on the issue of crime.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“We have spoken to a number of persons and we do get some positive feedback. yes, some people are saying that they are not seeing much of the police and I have said to Mrs Moody that we need to ensure that the officers patrol every corner of the town. We want every citizen to feel as if the police is a part of their security and not just a section of the community. And so she will ensure that residents of this area see more of the police with a view to see how it can enhance their own personal security. We are also looking at the fact that the area is extremely dark at night and so I have already said to the officers to submit to my office a list of the different streets and the posts and the number of the posts and I will see if I can write BEL with a view to have them electrify the area. We know that the government currently has a program where they are installing LED lights in different communities across the country and i believe that through my office is can surely assist these people in getting the lights in the respective communities to have the area more brighter at night and will make them feel more safer at home.”
