Rina Villanueva is karaoke queen
The stage at Bellevue’s King Street Station is now quiet, but last night and for the previous twelve weeks sixty contestants sang their hearts out and thousands of viewers responded with enthusiasm. The competition is now over and a more dramatic finish could not have been scripted in Hollywood.

“Now our winner for the night, and for KTV’s first season is…Rina Villanueva.”
This afternoon News 5’s Jose Sanchez caught up with the twenty-three year old karaoke queen and discovered that her golden vocal cords are matched by a generous heart.

“Did you have any idea that you were going to win the competition?”
Rina Villanueva
“Well actually no, but someone told me the key to success is within you, so you just go up there and do your best.”
Jose Sanchez
“Who did you think was going to win?”
Rina Villanueva
“Well everybody did a great job, so we just had to wait for the moment to come.”
Jose Sanchez
“What do you plan to do with the money you’ve won?”
Rina Villanueva
“Well, I donated it to Sister Cecilia’s because of all the people that used to support us and my grandfather when we were small, since we had the store; I see a lot of them in there. I noticed that they really need it, so I say I was donated it to them. That came from within my heart right. I hope that everybody would appreciate it and follow the footsteps too…to help.”
Rina also gave the Sister Cecilia Home the thousand dollar gift certificate from Courts. Runner up in the competition was Tremett Perriott, who received five hundred dollars from Benny’s Home Centre. Karaoke Television will become an annual event and returns to the screen in January.
