Tribute to twenty-two Belizean patriots

The tribute to Belizean Patriots was held at the Bliss auditorium on Thursday night. The ceremony is incorporated in the Independence celebrations to recognize Belizeans who have made a positive impact in the way of life in Belize. Governor General Colville Young presides at such events. On Thursday night a group of twenty-two patriots of different walks of life received awards in two categories. Nineteen Belizean men and women received the Meritorious Service Award while the Order of Distinction was presented to three outstanding citizens.

In his statement, Governor General Sir Colville Young said those awarded were chosen more so for their “deliberate and consistent commitments to unselfish service to others.”
