A 17 year old is accused of unlawful sex with a 13 year old

A teenager, who turns eighteen years this Saturday, was granted Supreme Court bail today for unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. The Galen University student is accused of illegal sex with a thirteen-year-old girl.  Today, his attorney, Hurl Hamilton, was successful in securing bail in the sum of five thousand dollars, plus one surety of the same amount with conditions. The student has to report to the Belmopan Police Station once a week, surrender his travel documents, he cannot leave the country without the permission of a judge of the Supreme Court and he must attend all his court dates including his next court appearance set for December eleventh, 2019. The incident for which he is accused reportedly occurred sometime in the month of July 2019 in Belmopan.  The seventeen-year-old appeared before Senior Magistrate, Merlene Moody on September six, 2019 for arraignment. In the bail application today, the crown, represented by Crown Counsel, Porsha Staine-Ferguson, had no objection.
