Man shot to death at agricultural fair

A day at the National Agriculture and Trade Show in Belmopan has ended tragically for a twenty-one year old father of two children. Reports are that Denver Westby of Faber’s Road in Belize City was shot at close range twice as he stood under a tent at the fair around 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. An eyewitness told News 5 that when the first bullet hit Westby in the region of the heart, he ran for cover and eventually fell. That was when the gunman, identified as one “Sean B.” an acquaintance of Westby, pumped the second shot into his stomach. A family member confirmed that Westby had a misunderstanding with members of the Hyde family, who, like Westby, are in the meat business in Belize City. Police say they have detained a Belize City man pending charges.
