One Person Charged for Trinidad robberies
A Saint Mathews Village resident has been charged for robberies of two bars in Trinidad Village, Orange Walk District, which occurred after nine o’clock on Friday night. While police has not issued any formal report on the incident, they have released the name of one person who was charged on Sunday. He is thirty-four-year-old Francisco Santos, who has been slapped with charges for two counts of robbery. While only one person has been arrested and charged, at least four others were involved in the armed holdups. The men first targeted Primavera Bar where, according to the proprietor, Basilia Hamilton, they made off with an estimated eight hundred dollars. That money was taken from two customers and the cash register. The men reportedly injured the two patrons. They then proceeded to Sports Bar Los Amigos located just around the corner from the first bar. The owner, Nilvia Santos, her employee and four customers were reportedly inside. The proprietor hid in a room in the back and claims she heard a gunshot. The men fled shortly after taking over six hundred dollars and a cellular phone. Moments after leaving that establishment, the men were met by a police mobile and a chase ensued. It did not last long however, as the driver of the vehicle made a wrong turn into a dead end. The robbers were forced to flee on foot in the cover of the night. Reports are that police shot at the men. Police recovered a firearm and a Jeep Cherokee.
