The Preliminary Inquiry for Albert Moreira, Accused of Murdering His Ex-Wife

Albert Moreira

The preliminary inquiry for B.D.F. soldier, Albert Moreira, accused of the murder of his estranged common-law-wife, Felicia James kicked off on Monday before Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts Anderson.  Prosecutor in the case, Corporal Christopher Smith submitted thirty-six statements from police including notes of interview with Moreira and information on a motor vehicle owned by James. An exhibit that the police will rely on is a purse belonging to James containing her IDs. Attorney for Moreira, Andrew Bennett, objected to the committal, saying there is no direct evidence that the body found was that of James and that a statement from James’ aunt, Lucia Bullon, does not confirm the identity of James.  A body, believed to be that of James, was found on October nineteenth, 2018, seven days after she was seen alive in the company of Moreira. In a statement to police at the time, a witness said that he towed a vehicle for Moreira since the Kia had broken down near mile seventeen on the Stann Creek Valley Road. The vehicle, however, went up in flames and Moreira told the witness that the vehicle was from Guatemala and wanted by the Customs Department so he burnt it. The witness then bought the vehicle from Moreira, dismantled it and sold off the parts.  In the course of investigations, it was determined the Kia belonged to James.
