Belize City Resident Critically Injured in Drive-by Shooting
Thirty-one year-old Joseph Rowland remains in a critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital following a drive-by shooting on Tuesday night. Rowland was in front of his house on Antelope Street, Belize City, speaking to another person when a gunman opened fire on them. He was hit to the rear and the vehicle sped off. Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett, who heads the National Crimes Investigation Branch, says that police are looking for several suspects.

“What the police know so far is that Rowland along with another individual was standing in front of his yard, when a vehicle drove by and someone from inside the vehicle fired shots towards their direction, one of which caught Mister Rowland to the right upper buttocks area. He still is at the K.H.M.H. in a critical condition.”

“Sir, has police been able to determine whether he was the intended target or the person he was with?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“Not at this point. What we do know is that the police were looking at several persons as suspects and we are pursuing those persons at this time.”
