So far police have arrested two men Wayne Miralda, a twenty two-year old volunteer fireman of Santa Elena, and Anthony Roaches, a twenty-one year old laborer of Red Creek and charged them with two counts of robbery. Police have recovered some of the jewelry.

We’ve all heard of “Joe Grind,” but tonight police and officials of the Belize Chamber of Commerce are looking for one “Joe Brown.” This evening a man identifying himself by that name presented a fifteen hundred dollar cheque made out to him for cashing at Salvador W. Habet on Regent Street West. The cheque, written on the account of the Chamber’s Western Union business, was a forgery, and while employees of Habet’s tried to stall the man, he grew nervous and took off before police officers arrived. The public is asked to be on the lookout for Joe and to beware of suspicious cheques stamped Western Union.
