Silk Grass Resident Perishes in Accident on the Southern Highway
Also in the south, in the wee hours of Independence Day, Silk Grass resident Jeremiah Xipot perished in an accident on the Southern Highway. The deceased was en route to Dangriga in his pickup truck along with Victor Luna when he lost control of the vehicle. Xipot was flung to his death from the driver’s side; while Luna suffered some scrapes and bruises, he escaped with his life. ACP Joseph Myvett says that the police are investigating whether alcohol was involved.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“Sometime around 12:42 a.m., Dangriga police was called to an area between miles four and five on the Southern Highway where they observed a white Toyota pickup extensively damaged and beside the pickup was the body of a Hispanic male later identified as Jeremiah Xipot of a Silk Grass address. What we know so far is that Xipot along with Victor Manuel Luna were travelling from the direction of Silk Grass towards Dangriga Town when he seemingly lost control of the vehicle and collided into a lamppost, which caused him to be thrown from the vehicle leading to his death.”

“Is there anything to suggest that maybe Mister Jeremiah was intoxicated?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“Well at this point in time, we do not have any information to suggest that, however, at the post-mortem samples will be taken to determine whether or not that was the case.”
