An Update on the Death by Strangulation of 9 Year-Old Danielle Hall
Emily Ico remains hospitalized at the Western Regional Hospital. If the name sounds familiar, it is because she is the mother of nine-year-old Danielle Hall, who was strangled to death inside their home in Unitedville, Cayo on August sixteenth. The child’s father made the discovery after he was called to the house where neighbours claim they were hearing strange noises coming from the mother, who is a devout Catholic. A post-mortem revealed that Danielle was killed. Since the incident, Emily has been hospitalized and according to authorities, they are yet to record a statement from her on what transpired inside the house on that tragic day in the village. It’s been over a month now and at Tuesday’s press brief, Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett gave an update on the investigation.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“Her mother still remains at the hospital under treatment at this time so she has still not yet been detained. When we last checked this morning, she is still admitted at the Western Regional Hospital.”

“So what of the investigation?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“The investigation is still proceeding. Statements were recorded from others, but as I say, up to this point no statement could have been recorded from her. And the police is in the process of seeking a mental evaluation of her, but otherwise the investigation is being prepared for forward transmission to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.”
