Taxi driver robbed by passenger
Another taxi driver found himself on the wrong end of a crime Monday night, but in this case the result was not fatal. Twenty-nine year old Jason White picked up a fare at the Pound Yard taxi stand around 9:30. The passenger, described in police report as a Creole man, asked to be taken to Wesley College. When they reached that destination, instead of reaching for his wallet, the customer pulled out a screwdriver which he placed to White’s neck and proceeded to relieve him of two hundred and thirty Belize dollars, one thousand seventy Mexican Pesos, a cell phone and a gold chain. The robber then bolted from the taxi and ran off into the night. Police have detained a suspect pending further investigation.
