P.U.P. Holds National Party Council Meeting
On Saturday the People’s United Party’s National Party Council gathered at Memorial Park in Belize City. The party celebrated its sixty-ninth anniversary during its National Party Council and passed several resolutions. Party supporters from across the country discussed issues affecting the nation and the lives of its three hundred thousand plus citizens. How to deal with crime and corruption and climate change were top on the agenda of the P.U.P.
John Briceño, P.U.P. Leader
“We know that one of the most pressing issues in the mind of Belizean people is the issue of corruption and as I said in my speech on the twenty first of September obviously politicians are unable to police themselves. So we are talking about having more independence when it comes to the issue of investigating corruption within government. The other important one is the issue when it comes to the environment, climate change is upon us. It is very important that we see in many instances businesses are lacking in compliance so it would be if the body could be independent to be able to ensure that they can monitor all the companies, communities, people or whosoever it is that are having an action that is against the environment.”
