“What she reported to police is that her common-law husband had left home sometime after ten a.m. to go to his farm which is somewhere on the outskirts of Pomona village. After him not returning, after six-thirty p.m., she, along with a search party, decided to go out and look for him. However, he was not found at that time and she decided to go and make a report. The search party went back and sometime shortly before mid-night his body was discovered near his corn field with chop wounds and motionless. As a result, the scene was processed and his body was removed to the southern regional hospital where it was pronounced dead. What we know so far is that the deceased seemingly had a recent altercation with a villager, whom we are looking at this time, may be a suspect in this incident. Also we are following several other leads in this investigation at this time. It is my understanding that the villager has recently been located and is now in police custody so we are in the process of commencing our investigation in relation to that person.”
