San Antonio Villagers without Portable Water
Villagers in San Antonio in the Toledo District have been without water for two days. Area Representative for Toledo West Oscar Requeña says that the village’s water woes is a well of political interference by members of the ruling United Democratic Party. Requeña says that the village’s water board has not been functioning properly and is demanding that central government permanently address the problem.

“This has severely affected the running of both schools, the San Luis Rey Primary and well as the Seventh Day Adventist School. And of course the villagers on a whole. In the as case of the school bathrooms and kitchen cannot function and certainly all the families in the house are not being affected because they do not have water. Hipolito, this problem is a very, very long outstanding problem and I want to go on record from the very beginning to say that the Ministry of Rural Development, the director of Rural Development Mr Banner is fully aware of this situation. This has been a problematic situation that has existed for a long time and in my opinion and in the opinion of the villagers of San Antonio the Ministry has refused to address this problem.”
