Kenyon Dominguez is Freed after 7 Years on Remand for Murder

After serving seven years on remand, twenty-eight-year-old Kenyon Dominguez walked free from the Supreme Court on Monday for gunning down Keith Lewis on July eleventh on Miller Street, behind the Complex Building.  Justice Colin Williams, in a trial by judge without jury, ruled that Dominguez had no case to answer. The justice upheld a no case submission after the crown, represented by Shanice Lovelle, closed her case unable to prove the charge of murder.  Justice Williams found that the statement given by the main witness, another murder suspect, John Grinage, was inadmissible.  In his testimony, Grinage told the court that he saw the murder and while he had said in July 2012 that the shooter was Dominguez, on the stand, he was unable to identify the shooter.  The crown made a submission to have Grinage be treated as a hostile witness, but Justice Colin Williams did not allow the application.  Defense attorney for Dominguez, Kareem Musa, then made a no case submission.  Lewis was hit as many as five times and was found lifeless until the following morning.
