P.G. student clings to life
A student of the Julian Cho Technical High School in Punta Gorda is
recovering from stab wounds she received on Thursday. Fifteen-year old
Melanie Villafranco was involved in an argument with two students at school,
which turned violent. Villafranco was stabbed in the lower part of her
abdomen and was quickly taken to the Southern Regional Hospital. Because
of the severity of her injuries, she was transferred to the Karl Heusner
Memorial Hospital where she remains in a stable, but critical condition.
The other two students involved in the fight, a fourteen and sixteen year
old, have both been detained by Punta Gorda police for questioning.
