2 Belize City Men Guilty of Being a Member of a Gang

Edward Saldano

Tonight, two Belize City men, well-known to the courts, pleaded guilty to being a member of a gang to avoid jail time. Police say Edward Saldano and Tareek Malique Goff are gang members.  In the case of Goff, who was the first to be arraigned before Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts-Anderson, he is accused of being a member of North Side Gangsters or Victoria Street Bloods. Meanwhile, Saldano is accused of being a member of the George Street Gang. Police claim they have been monitoring and can conclude that both are active members of gangs who have been committing serious criminal offenses. Police investigations indicate that the gangs are involved in drug trafficking and have found drugs, firearm and ammunitions in the areas they operate.  Goff denied he is a member of the Victoria Street Gang, but said he grew up in the area.  He has been arrested and charged with handling stolen goods and robbery, but has no conviction as the matter is still before the court. He was fined three thousand five hundred dollars which he has to pay by March fourth, 2020.  Saldano also pleaded guilty to being a member of the George Street Gang and was also fined three thousand five hundred dollars. The George Street Gang is also active in criminal activities involving shootings and serious activities.
