Woman stabbed, boy abducted at church retreat

Thankfully, we do not have to report a case of murder tonight, but the crime we are recounting comes pretty close. Police say that around four this morning in Sandhill a man identified as seventeen year old Leon Walford entered the tent of two women who were sleeping in a tent on a church retreat and stabbed thirty-year old Sharon Arthurs in the face, neck and hands. As if that weren’t enough, Walford also took a fourteen year old hostage at knife point and fled into the nearby bushes. Details are sketchy, but police say about six hours later the boy was found, apparently in a state of shock, in the St. Martin de Porres area of Belize City. Both Arthurs and the fourteen year old boy are hospitalised at the K.H.M.H. while the kidnapper/ knifeman is on the loose. Police have not reported on a motive for the crime and have set up road blocks in an effort to apprehend Walford. They are appealing to the public for any information that can help in the manhunt. Walford is reportedly a member of the B.D.F. volunteer company.
