Belize Wins Gold in U-13 Volleyball at CODICADER Games

On Monday evening, Belize’s U-thirteen Volleyball Team returned with gold from the CODICADER Games in Costa Rica.  The first place win is a big deal for the Belize team as they bested some of the region’s tops in volleyball. The team held a motorcade along the George Price Highway and through Belize City late Monday evening after they returned in country. Here’s an ecstatic Elton Anderson, the coach of the U-thirteen Volleyball Team.

“We just came back from Costa Rica with the gold. We had five months of hard preparation but it truly paid off. Usually in this tournament, Guatemala and Costa Rica are the power team in this region.  For this time it was our turn around.  We played a total of five games equivalent to ten set and all we lost is one set in the finals against Costa Rica. It was a hard tournament for us despite not losing all the way until the semi-finals but we managed to pull it off. These kids are unbelievable thanks to Ms. Lupita and the national sports council and friends and family supporting us. The female team has been doing it and now it is time that we do it at the U-thirteen age because this is the stage where volleyball starts for the kids.”
