27 injured in bus crash
A slow moving truck, two aggressive busses and a dangerous curve combined to send twenty-seven passengers to the hospital this morning. Around 6:30, the truck, with two busses behind it, was heading south between miles sixty-one and sixty-two on the Northern Highway. The first bus, belonging to Northern Transport, pulled out to pass and was quickly followed by the second, owned by the same company. What happened next is not entirely clear, but the second bus suddenly swerved to avoid hitting the first, went out of control, crossed the road and turned over. The twenty-seven injured passengers were treated for minor injuries and released from the Orange Walk Hospital. Driver of the overturned bus was thirty year old Charles Meggs. The accident occurred at the notorious Mamayal Curve on the Northern Highway. Police are investigating, but no charges have yet been filed.
