Police also provide an update to the murder of a Belize City resident. Louise Bevans Street resident Brandon Bennett was executed on Monday night and his body dumped on the roadside in Vista del Mar after eight o’clock. There were multiple gunshot wounds on the body. The twenty-six-year-old was recently charged for gang affiliation, but it is not known if that was the motive behind his tragic end. Today, Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett told the media that their investigation has them tracking Bennett’s whereabouts prior to his murder. He was last seen in the vicinity of Supal Street.

“So far, we are following several leads and during the course of the investigation, we also determined that Bennett had left his home on Louise Bevans Street sometime shortly after seven p.m. on foot and made his way to the Supal Street area. As a result of that, we are following several leads in that area; police are on the ground conducting investigation in that area.”

“What is the preliminary investigation showing as to a motive behind this crime because we know Mister Bennett had been arraigned about two or three weeks ago for gang affiliation?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“So far we have not yet been able to establish a clear motive. We are looking at some gang issues, but yes indeed we have not been able to determine a clear motive.”

Duane Moody

“Would you say that he was in rival gang territory when he went to Supal Street?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“I would not go as far as to say that. Obviously he was just passing through that area from what has been gathered so far.”

“…and no reasoning for why he was in that area at this point?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“No reason at this time.”
