4 Busted with Weed and Contraband Cigarettes
Four persons have been detained pending charges for possession of cannabis and uncustomed goods. Around ten o’clock on Saturday night, police intercepted a vehicle in Orange Walk and inside a knapsack, discovered over four pounds of cannabis. A further check of the vehicle led to the discovery of one hundred and ten packs of cigarettes. The vehicle was driven by Nestor Chimal, a thirty-eight-year-old resident of Corozal Town; he was accompanied by Claudel Stevenson of Orange Walk, as well as Tyrone Broaster and Clinton Allen, both of Belize City. ACP Myvett reports that all four have been charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply; the Customs Department is also involved.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“Orange Walk Police were conducting vehicular checkpoint near the Toll Bridge when a red Ford 150 pickup approached the checkpoint, at the time being driven by one Nestor Chimal, thirty-eight years of a Corozal Town address. He was accompanied by three other male persons. Police indicated to the driver that they would conduct a search on the vehicle and in so doing, police discovered a knapsack beneath the driver’s seat that contained four parcels of suspected cannabis which when weighed amounted to one thousand two hundred and fifty-four point nine grams. And also found within a hidden compartment of the vehicle was one hundred and ten packs of cigarettes. As a result those persons were taken to the Orange Walk Police Station where they were processed and later charged for the cannabis.”
