Court of Appeal Hauls in B.B.N. for Contempt of Court
The Principals of Breaking Belize News an online news blog appeared before the Court of Appeal this afternoon. A contempt of court charge was brought against the online news publication after it published a story on April fifth. On that day, a case about the I.C.J. referendum was up for case management which is not normally covered by the media. But a post online led the B.B.N. to publish that the Court of Appeal banned reporters from entering the court. The Justice took issue with that and held B.B.N. with contempt of court for which it had to appear in court today. Coming out of the courtroom, the principals of B.B.N. told the media that no comment will be provided; the media was directed to attorney Anthony Sylvestre.
