No relief for B.E.L., Belizean consumers
For more times than we care to count, a promise by Mexico’s Federal Electricity Commission has failed to come through, and as a result thousands of Belizeans will once again be left in the dark. Cities and towns nationwide will be hit by blackout tonight as the Merida Three plant, scheduled to return to service tonight, still cannot start up. A new date has been set for the end of the week and until the huge facility can come back on line, southern Mexico will keep whatever power it has for itself, rather than sell to Belize. It is not certain what the electricity situation will be like for the rest of the week.
