Pedestrian killed in freak accident

A Mexican resident of Ladyville was killed on Tuesday when he was hit by a car as the result of a three-car traffic mishap. Adolfo Gomez, a herbalist from Veracruz, was walking near the intersection of Poinsettia Street and Hecker Road and it turned out to be the wrong place at the wrong time. It all started when a taxi driven by twenty-four year old Dion Smith ran the stop sign on Hecker Road. Smith’s vehicle was then hit by a pickup truck travelling through the intersection, which knocked the taxi into a third vehicle waiting at the corner. That car was knocked into the drain, pinning the pedestrian Gomez underneath. He was taken unconscious to the hospital at nearby Price Barracks where he later died. Smith has been charged with the standard trio of manslaughter offences along with failure to obey a traffic sign. He was released on three thousand, five hundred dollars bail.
