Van burned, owners says it’s because he spoke out

Story Picture
When a Port Loyola resident heard a loud noise outside his home around four-thirty this morning it may not have been gunshots… but the disaster was no less disturbing. Clifford White told News 5 that while he slept, his 1991 Dodge Caravan was fire bombed in his yard off Caesar Ridge Road.

Clifford White

“Apparently there was a gas bomb thrown inside the vehicle after the glass was broken. Splinters and pieces of glass are still on top of the vehicle and on the other vehicle that was adjacent to this one here.”

Ann-Marie Williams

“The vehicle beside it was also bombed?”

Clifford White

“No, the vehicle beside it just got shatters of glass from when they hit my vehicle.”

Ann-Marie Williams

“What would be the motive behind this?”

Clifford White

“Well I rule out nothing. Some people may say it could be politically motivated, some would say I aggravated certain people when I went on the media and said that the youths need some assistance, some help. They need jobs because all they are doing out here is gambling and selling drugs on the street sides and basically fussing and fighting and shooting up against each other and that the government needs to urgently and critically to change that situation.”

White says whomever set the fire inconvenienced his entire family as the van was their primary means of transportation.
