The Top Scorers of the 2019 CSEC & CAPE Exams
The National Awards Ceremony takes place later this month in the south. The ceremony will recognize students that excelled in the CSEC regional exams and the CAPE. Students from the Corozal Junior College and the Edward P. Yorke High School proved they are worth their salt. A release from the ministry recognizes the outstanding students. As it relates to the CAPE Examinations, Liyan David Moralez from the Corozal Junior College is this year’s Most Outstanding Candidate and is the recipient of the Belize Scholarship having obtained as many as eight grade one passes. Randel Pate, also from Corozal Junior College is the Outstanding Candidate having attained six grade one passes.
Turning to the CSEC, a total of four hundred and two students will be recognized; two will receive Subject Group awards and thirty-four will receive Individual Subject Awards for the regional exam. The results of the May/June exams also show that the students of Edward P. Yorke High School were top achievers. Alexis Jerry Guy is the Most Outstanding Candidate having passed seventeen exams at grade one proficiency level as well as first place for English and Business Principles. Dayana Marroquin, also from Edward P. Yorke took second place with fourteen grade one passes at the proficiency level. Dayana also receives the Subject Group Award in the Sciences. A third student from the same high school, Angie Matute will receive the Subject Group Award for Technical/Vocational. This year, the award ceremony takes place on November twenty-ninth in the village of Independence.
