C.J.C. Celebrates Students’ Outstanding Performance on CAPE Exams

On Tuesday, the names of this year’s brilliant students were released. We start with Liyan Moralez and Randel Pate; both are at the University of the West Indies Saint Augustine Campus in Trinidad and Tobago pursing their bachelor’s degrees after receiving a professional and technical scholarship offered by the Government of Belize. Moralez pursues a degree in chemical and process engineering while Pate pursues a degree in civil engineering. Via phone today, we spoke to Mrozles on his achievement. He says he was focused and the support of his parents and school authorities were critical. The achievement of both Liyan Moralez and Randel Pate is reason for celebration at Corozal Junior College, particularly among the faculty and administration. Today, Marlon Brown, the dean at C.J.C., said that the young men’s accomplishments is significant given that back in 2017, the institution reintroduced Caribbean studies into its programmes.

“This past June he also gave the Valedictorian address to the graduating class of 2019. Liyan is a resident of San Estevan in the Orange Walk District. He commuted daily to our school and to my recollection he didn’t miss any session for the two years that he was with us. Liyan is humble, dedicated, hardworking and as a result of those excellent qualities he excelled in the May June 2019 CAPE Exams. Randel Pate is a mathematics/physics graduate and he gave the salutatory address to the graduating class of 2019. He comes from humble beginnings. in fact he comes from a single parent family and despite the challenges that both Liyan and Randel had they were able to overcome those to achieve the milestones that they have accomplished this year. It means quite a lot for us and one of the things that we are striving to be is a quality institution. Everything that we do is in pursuit of excellence, so in order to do that we have had to make adjustments to our programs. All our programs with the exception of Primary Education and Tourism programs which are national programs are CAPE related and so for us, for the Corozal Junior College educators and students, it is a significant milestone because it once again puts us, puts the Junior College where we deserve to be. With this good news, I believe that next year our intake will be even greater because students are looking for institutions that will provide them the education that they need to further their studies either nationally or internationally.”
Dean Brown says that the students’ success is also credited to the parents support and the dedication of the faculty and support staff at C.J.C.
