Did the Plane Land?
Commissioner Chester Williams confirmed today that there was a suspect low flying aircraft within Belize’s airspace late Monday. But he says that there is no information to suggest that the illegal airplane landed in Belize. The last known drug plane that landed in Belize was on September thirtieth, in the area of Blue Creek, Orange Walk District. Williams told that the media that the authorities are just as annoyed as the public is about these illegal aircrafts, and so they continue to put measures in place to prevent them from landing in Belize.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“We have been doing a lot to avert these things from the onset. I know that the Belizean people are at a stage where these planes have become annoying and we feel the same way. We have done a number of things and put a number of measures in place to prevent these things from occurring. As you can see, we have not heard of any in a long time. Yes, Monday night, there was a low flying aircraft. We had things in place and we were tracking it as much as we could have. From all indications, the plane went off into Mexico and it faded from there. There is no indication that the plane landed in Belize and if it had we would have already received word of it. We continue to see what we can do to address these illegal plane landings in our country.”
