Jose Rodriguez, Guilty of Causing Death by Careless Conduct
In the Supreme Court, Jose Rodriguez pleaded guilty to “Causing Death by Careless Conduct” in the fatal traffic accident which claimed the life of eleven-year-old Tezzrah Thompson, four years ago. Initially, Rodriguez was charged with “Manslaughter by Negligence”, but he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge. The case was adjourned to November twenty-fifth, when Justice Colin Williams is expected to hear mitigation. Rodriguez is being represented by attorney Nazira Myles while Crown Counsel Riis Cattouse is prosecuting the case. On October fifth, 2015, Thompson was knocked down and killed by a pick-up truck driven by Rodriguez while crossing the George Price Highway after exiting a bus. Thompson was a student of Saint Matthews Government School and was returning to her home in Mahogany Heights when the incident occurred.
