Accident victim dies from injuries
One death has resulted from the traffic accident that occurred on Sunday in which a white Toyota pickup flipped over with its sixteen occupants. Francisca Chacon fought for her life for two days in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital but today she succumbed to her head injuries. While her widowed husband Umberto has been released from the hospital, their fourteen year old daughter Carolina is in stable condition though suffering from liver damage, head injury and trauma to the abdomen and chest. Some of the victims such as two year old Nellie Chacon and seventeen year old Veronica Cornelio were admitted to Belmopan Hospital and were well enough to be released today. However, the driver of the vehicle, Pedro Cal and his common law wife Maria, are still at the K.H.M.H. in stable condition. When fully recovered Cal might still be in trouble as the police have served him a Notice of Intent to Prosecute. It turns out that not only did Cal have too many passengers in the vehicle, the truck’s license plate does not belong to the Toyota pick-up he was driving, but to a 1990 Isuzu Amigo.
