Pickstock campaigner stabbed. Was it political?
A Belize City man stabbed on Sunday night is now recovering at the K.H.M.H. Albert Crawford, a twenty-six year old security guard for Northern Fishermen Co-operative, was at a bar on Newtown Barracks when he claims he was assaulted by a group of men. In the middle of the struggle he was stabbed several times before his assailants escaped. Crawford is one of the four commanders in Attorney General Godfrey Smith’s campaign for the Pickstock division PUP nomination. News 5 spoke to Smith, who was visiting Crawford at the hospital, who said that during the past month people have told him there was danger of increased violence as the campaign progressed. Smith declined to comment whether or not he thought the incident was politically motivated.
