UDP chief propagandist loses his job
He was the UDP government’s mouthpiece for much of its last term in office, but following the party’s landslide defeat in 1998, former journalist Delroy Cuthkelvin has just not been able to find his niche. After an aborted flirtation with the PUP in the form of a cushy job at the Arts Council, Cuthkelvin seemed to regain his political groove when he was appointed in November to the newly created post of public relations director for the UDP. That bubble has apparently burst, however, as reliable reports indicate that earlier this week Delroy was relieved of his position. Reasons for the parting were not given but it is understood there were some fundamental differences of strategic opinion between the spokesman… and those for whom he was purportedly speaking. News 5 was unable to reach Cuthkelvin for comment. The journeyman journalist has at various times worked for the BCB, Channel 5, and Krem radio.
